  1. I have paid and signed up, is there anything I need to do?
    You MUST download and fill out the “Consent and Release of Liability Form Regarding Training” and upload the completed consent form by clicking on your name at the top and going to “My Account” section. The form can also be found under Resources. Without this form you cannot complete the course. 
     
  2. I have completed the Consent and Release of Liability Form Regarding Training what are the steps now that I am signed up for the course?
    • Begin the study modules. There are 11 modules in total and there is a lot of useful information that will help guide you on your journey in the security guard industry. 
    • Ensure that you have chosen a date to attend the in class First Aid CPR course. If there are some scheduling issues, please feel free to contact our office and we can sort it out.
    • Complete the final test and pass the course
    • Securtac will review your file, and if you have passed our course, uploaded the consent form, and have a valid first aid CPR certificate, we will then provide you with a Training Completion Number so you can register to write the ministry security guard test. 
       
  3. I do not have an Emergency First Aid & CPR certificate
    Then you must add this course to your basket upon checkout. If you do not have a valid First Aid & CPR certificate you will not be allowed to write the ministry test until you obtain one.   
     
  4.  I have a valid Emergency First Aid & CPR certificate from an approved training course provider
    If your Emergency First Aid & CPR is still valid and does not expire within the year then you do not have to take the course. Be sure to email us your valid certificate to training@securtac.ca for approval or visit My Account once logged in and upload you First Aid CPR Certificate. 
     
  5. How long is your First Aid CPR certificate valid for?
    If you do training through us it is valid for 3 years. Other training providers could be valid for 2 or 3 years. 
     
  6. Who can get a security guard license?
    To be eligible for a license:
    • You must be 18 years of age or older.
    • You must be eligible to work in Canada.
    • You must have a clean criminal record.
       
  7. How much does the course cost?

  9. What is a training completion number (TCN) & how do I get one?
    • Securtac will email you your training completion number once you have successfully passed our online security guard training syllabus and forwarded all the necessary documents (first aid certificate, consent of release of liability form). We will email it to you within 24 to 48 hours. This completion number will allow you to go register to write the test with https://ontariosecuritytesting.com/
       
  10. What is the security guard license renewal procedure, do I need to redo the exam?
    • No, your security guard license will be valid for 2 years. Every 2 years you will be required to renew your license with the Ontario Private Security & Investigative Services Branch. You can do it online or mail the paper documents
       
  11. Where do I register for the security guard exam?
  12. If I fail in the test can I rewrite again?
    • You can redo our course for FREE until you pass, but our students never seem to have that problem. The ministry exam however, you will be required to rebook and pay for it again if you failed.
       
  13. Do you still need more help?
    • When you are enrolled in the course you can tap the green chat icon found at the bottom right of your browser if you are stuck and require help while reviewing the study material
