WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO BECOMING LICENSED?
Step 1 (Getting Started)
Sign up for our online Ontario security guard course and begin learning the online learning modules.
Very important to keep in mind, if you do not have a valid First Aid CPR Certificate from a Canadian approved company, be sure to register with us. Our office is located in Scarborough, Ontario. If this is too far for you, then we recommend you find an approved training provider close to you. Once you pass, be sure to send us a copy of the certificate for approval.
Step 2 (Booking & Writing Your Test)
Once you pass all the requirements from Step 1 (online security guard course + first aid CPR), and have provided us the necessary documents, you will receive a testing completion number from our office within 24-48 hours, this will allow you to book the ministry exam at Ontario Security Testing
First Aid CPR w/ AED Training
Our courses and instructors are certified and provided through Rescue 7. We now offer the course in a 2 step blended learning environment. With a combination of 60% online theory learning and 40% in class hands on learning.
As required, those who want to become an Ontario security guard must take the 1 day, 6.5-hour course of the Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C and AED course.
Training is not limited to security guards only. In addition to the Emergency First Aid with CPR (1-day course), we also provide the Standard First Aid & CPR Level C with AED (2-day course) & the Recertification course (6.5 hour) for any job that requires it.
Our courses are approved federally by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and provincially by its applicable Workers Safety & Insurance Board. All certifications are valid for three (3) years from the date of completion. Recertification can only be done once, and the current certificate must be valid upon doing the course and be issued by Rescue 7 only.
We recommend that if you enroll in any of the courses and are scheduled to attend the in-class portion to dress comfortably since this will be hands on training.
What is Blended First Aid CPR Training?
First Aid CPR blended learning breaks down the training course in 2 steps:
- Complete & pass the online theory-based reading material on your own time at home or school
- Once you complete step 1, you will be invited to the in-class hand on practical training
This method of learning was adopted to shorten the amount of time spent in class to better fit the schedule of the busy lives of our students. It has also proven to be very helpful during the Covid-19 pandemic to limit the contact of students in class. Instead of being in class for a full day of 6.5 hours, you only need to attend for a maximum of 2 to 4 hours.
How Do I Complete the Blended First Aid CPR Training?
When you enroll for any of our First Aid CPR training program, we will send you a separate username and password the next business day to access the online training portal to begin learning the theory-based portion. It is a combination of reading and completing small activities. You must pass this portion of the training in order to be invited to the in-class hands on training.
After passing the online theory portion we will schedule you to come in class for 2 to 4 hours. This is where one of our certified instructors will teach you the correct techniques of administering mouth to mouth CPR and treating first aid injuries. You will write your test on this day and be given your certificate upon successful completion.
